Danielle Heath (b.1983. London, UK) is a Göteborg artist, employing video, performance and installation.
Heath creates interactive scenes, hosting performances that are in the middle of proceedings, trusting in the audience’s already developed sense of etiquette to be able to understand how to navigate these uncanny environments.
Having researched folk festivals and traditions, where the social order is temporarily turned upside-down, she focuses on female tricksters and how they use humour and a sense of unease to disrupt power. Heath utilises this untrustworthy character to question whether we are too complacent with the social structures we inhabit. Often creating uneasy situations for herself and the audience, she jars us into an awareness of our own ingrained behaviours.
